Mindworx’s Services
Paediatric occupational therapy is about helping children grow, learn and thrive in everyday life. Using fun, play-based activities, therapists support skills like coordination and movement, handwriting and other school-related skills, self-care (dressing, feeding, toileting, hygiene) and sensory processing and emotional regulation.
The goal is to make daily routines easier and more enjoyable, while building your child’s confidence and independence.
A paediatric occupational therapy assessment may be helpful if your child has challenges that affect their daily life and development, including:
Our multidisciplinary approach centres on a paediatric occupational therapist working alongside other healthcare professionals as needed, such as functional medical doctors, psychologists or therapists. Depending on your child’s needs, this team collaborates with your family to provide coordinated, holistic support in a warm, supportive environment so your child can reach their full potential.
Together, we develop a coordinated care plan tailored to your child’s strengths, challenges, and goals. supporting their growth, independence, and long-term success in everyday life.
Paediatric occupational therapy helps your child work towards their own goals and keep up with important developmental milestones for their age. Benefits can include, but are not limited to:
By targeting meaningful, everyday activities, occupational therapy supports both your child’s development and your family’s daily routines.
How is a paediatric occupational therapy different from the one for adults?
The primary distinction between adult and pediatric occupational therapy lies in age. While the overall goal remains consistent—helping individuals develop skills for everyday life—the specific activities differ. Children often receive therapy focused on school-related tasks to support classroom learning, whereas adults typically work on improving abilities needed for workplace adaptation.
How long will my child need paediatric occupational therapy?
The length and frequency of sessions depend on your child’s individual needs and goals.
Will my child just be playing in sessions, and how does play help?
Sessions often look like play, but every activity is carefully chosen to build specific skills such as coordination, attention, self‑care, sensory processing or social interaction. Play is the most natural way for children to learn, so using play makes therapy engaging, effective and age‑appropriate.
How can I support my child as a parent?
You play a key role in your child’s progress. You can practise home activities suggested by the therapist and offer patience, praise and encouragement—every child learns at their own pace.
OT&P is here to help, and together we’ll create a practical, family-centred plan to strengthen their independence, confidence and everyday functioning.
