Where we can provide support through therapy and counselling:
Specialist therapeutic care for young adults who may be pushing their mental limits and struggling to cope.
When you’re a teenager, life can be hectic. Balancing education, friendships, relationships, activities and family life can put immense pressure on an adolescent; especially during a time of major personal development and growth, with added hormonal changes.
Many of these stresses are normal, but some teens who don’t have the resources to deal with internal conflict can find that these issues follow them into adulthood.
Therapy provides teens with the ability to cope and learn; aiming to empower them and build emotional resilience to face challenges, navigate adulthood and their newfound independence. In tougher times, like exam seasons or a new move to Hong Kong, therapists provide a safe, confidential space for young adults to balance themselves.
We can provide support through therapy and counselling with:
Helping couples in all types of intimate relationships to recognise and resolve their conflicts, through open and honest communication.
All relationships can be complicated. Whether you’re married or a couple, committing ourselves to another person can be challenging, and we can inevitably face conflicts. For couples that encounter these issues, therapy can be an insightful and empowering solution.
The aim of couples therapy is increasing your knowledge about yourself, your partner and the patterns of interaction between you that may be affecting your relationship. Couples learn to recognise their conflicts and resolve them through healthy discussion and an exchange of views.
We can provide support through therapy and counselling with:
Therapy services for Hong Kong families dealing with internal and external conflicts, helping to cope and communicate.
Families are an essential support network in our lives, helping us to face challenges and providing advice, so we don’t feel alone. But strong negative emotions and family tensions can brew up, and cause rifts in the relationships with the people you’re closest to, and as a result, other relationships too.
Family therapy aims to help ease those tensions by engaging your entire household in open dialogue for effective communication. Therapy seeks to set healthy boundaries and provide conflict resolution strategies so that everyone can gear towards a more positive interaction both within your unit, as well as with others.
We can provide support through therapy and counselling with:
Psychoeducational, Behavioural, IQ and Reading Assessments for Children to better understand their development.
What is psychoeducation?
While psychological assessments can sound intimidating, these tests can help you, as a parent, understand the nature of problematic behaviours and understand your child's development. Having an experienced psychologist to administer the tests will also help identify the problem accurately.
At OT&P MindWorX, we offer four types of assessments to identify your child's personality traits and abilities:After the assessment is completed, recommendations and a solution-based approach are given to assist parents in achieving the best outcomes for their child.
The assessment evaluates a range of cognitive domains and specific abilities within both a verbal and visual scale. It uses a standardised, reliable test to assess intelligence and is able to identify learning disabilities and giftedness, as well as neuropsychological impairments.
Tests used: WRIT, RIAS-2
This assessment is best for children who may be exhibiting different or atypical behaviours both at home and at school — such as tantrums, aggression and difficulties with independence. It may also indirectly assess a child's self-help skills and social abilities.
Tests used: BASC, Informal 1-on-1 with a therapist
Our in-depth reading skills assessments focus on a child's abilities within the domain of reading. Including phonetic decoding, blending of sounds, word recognition, rapid word reading and reading comprehension.
It also assesses for visual stress which occurs in 15-20% of the population and may impact a child's literacy development. This assessment will benefit children who are struggling with reading at their year level.
Tests used: KTEA-3, WIATT, WRIT, Lucid ViSS
Our full comprehensive psychoeducational assessment assesses academic domains as well as social and behavioural aspects of schooling by taking a school neuropsychological approach. it will provide insight into your child's current level of abilities and how those specific abilities influence their functioning.
These abilities may manifest within a classroom setting, across all subjects and manners of schooling. The report details performances across a wide range of co-normed and evidence-based assessments.
To ensure a fair and well-rounded understanding of your child, interview with parents, teachers and the child will be conducted before a school observation. This is then followed by two days of 3-hour evaluation sessions.
Tests used: BASC, Conners, KTEA-3, Dyslexia Screening Kit, WIAT, WRIT, RIAS-2, BERRY VMI, Lucid ViSS, TOMAL-2
Psychiatry services for individuals who are looking for diagnosis and specialised treatment that includes psychotherapy, medication and counselling.
Many times, individuals who suffer from mental illness do so in silence. If untreated, this can affect both your mood and your physical health. If you are suffering from a mental illness, you may be feeling significant distress and impairment to personal functioning — these feelings may be episodic or persistent.
Consulting a psychiatrist can help your mental health in many ways. Psychiatrists are medical doctors who have specialised in the field of mental health. Their expertise in the assessment of mental health will provide you with a holistic understanding of the physical, social, psychological and behavioural aspects of your emotions and behaviours.
They will then identify and diagnose any conditions and manage your symptoms in an empathic and supportive manner with counselling and if necessary, medications offered.
Our psychiatrist is experienced in the management of
Specialised therapy focused on helping individuals who may experience panic attacks, PTSD & distress.
