Experience

Dominique Talebli is an experienced counsellor and child development specialist who works with children, adolescents, and families across a range of educational and clinical settings. Drawing on extensive training in both counselling and developmental psychology, she supports clients in building emotional resilience, strengthening relationships, and achieving positive developmental outcomes.

She holds a Master of Science from Imperial College London and University College London (UCL), a Master of Counselling from the University of Hong Kong (HKU), and is currently pursuing a PhD in Infant and Childhood Development at the University of Santa Barbara. Her academic training reflects a strong commitment to understanding child development through both scientific research and clinical practice. Originally from the United Kingdom, she has lived and worked across a variety of countries and cultures, including Spain, the United Arab Emirates, Hong Kong, other parts of the Middle East, and the United States. This international experience has given her a deep appreciation of cultural diversity and enables her to work effectively with children and families from a wide range of backgrounds, helping them navigate the unique opportunities and challenges associated with multicultural living. Professionally, she has worked within three international schools in Hong Kong and has also provided counselling services in a private clinical setting at Matilda International Hospital.

Throughout her career, she has supported children, adolescents, and families facing a range of emotional, behavioural, social, and developmental challenges. Her therapeutic approach is integrative, collaborative, and tailored to the individual needs of each child and family. She draws on a variety of evidence-based modalities, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Satir Family Therapy, Bowen Family Systems Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and DIR® (Developmental, Individual-differences, Relationship-based) Therapy.

A central principle of her work is that every child develops differently. As such, her sessions are carefully designed around the child's developmental stage, individual strengths, and specific needs. By incorporating developmental, emotional, social, and relational considerations into the therapeutic process, she helps children build self-awareness, emotional regulation skills, confidence, and healthy relationships. She believes in working closely with parents, caregivers, and schools to ensure a holistic and supportive approach to a child's development. Through warmth, empathy, and evidence-based practice, she empowers children and families to navigate challenges, foster growth, and thrive both at home and in their communities.
