When Is the Best Time to Take Probiotics?

The best time to take a probiotic is either first thing in the morning or before going to sleep at night.

Some probiotic manufacturers recommend taking the supplement on an empty stomach, while others advice taking it with food.¹⁰ Some research suggests that Saccharomyces boulardii microorganisms survive in equal numbers with or without a meal.[1]

Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium survive best when taken up to 30 minutes before a meal.[1]
