How Should You Protect Yourself Against HPV?

HPV vaccines are highly effective in protecting against infection.

There are ways you can stay safe from HPV:
  1. Get the HPV vaccination. The World Health Organization recommends that girls aged between 9 and 14 years get the HPV jab. Some countries currently provide the HPV jab for boys since males are also at risk of developing genital cancers from an HPV infection.
  2. Wear condoms. If you are sexually active, it is essential to wear a condom every time you have sex to lower your chances of getting HPV.
  3. Get screened for cervical cancer. Regular screening is recommended for all women starting from age 30, including those with no symptoms. Interestingly, several developed countries suggest regular screening at an even earlier age. For instance:
