How Should You Protect Yourself Against HPV?

HPV vaccines are highly effective in protecting against infection.

There are ways you can stay safe from HPV:
    • Get the HPV vaccination. The World Health Organization recommends that girls aged between 9 and 14 years get the HPV jab. Some countries currently provide the HPV jab for boys since males are also at risk of developing genital cancers from an HPV infection.
    • Get screened for cervical cancer. Regular screening is recommended for all women starting from age 30, including women who have no symptoms.
    • Wear condoms. If you are sexually active, it is essential to wear a condom every time you have sex to lower your chances of getting HPV.
