What Are Common Running Injuries?

Common running injuries can include ITBS, hamstring injury, runner's knee, calf strain and more.

Common injuries experienced from running can include:

  • ITBS (IT Band Syndrome) - A health issue that causes pain on the outside of the knee and thigh.
  • Hamstring Injury - Can be a strain or tear that occurs to the tendons or large muscles at the back of the high.
  • Runner’s Knee - A dull pain that can be felt around the front of the knee.
  • Calf Strain - This is an injury to the muscles in the back of your leg below the knee, caused by excessive stretching or loading
  • Stress Fractures - Tiny cracks in the bone caused by repetitive force that is accompanied by a dull ache where the fracture is located.
  • Achilles Tendon Pain - Pain and swelling at the back of the ankle or heel caused by overloading the tendon over time.
  • Shin Splints - Dull shin pain occurring on the front of the leg and below the knee. 
  • Heel Pain - Also known as plantar fasciitis, a sharp pain when you put weight on the heel.
