Norgesic is a combination medicinal product designed to alleviate discomfort associated with painful musculoskeletal conditions. It comprises of orphenadrine citrate, an anti-cholinergic with skeletal muscle relaxant effect, and paracetamol (also known as acetaminophen), an analgesic and antipyretic agent. This dual-action formula helps to relax muscles and relieve pain simultaneously, making it a popular choice for managing muscle-related discomfort.

Dosage information: 

  • Adult dosage is typically one tablet taken three times daily or as prescribed by a healthcare professional.

  • Children: Use in children is generally not recommended without medical advice. 
  • Adults: Suitable for adult patients, adhering to prescribed dosages. 
  • Elderlies: Dosage adjustment may be necessary due to the slower metabolism of the drug in older adults. 
  • Pregnancy: Use only if the potential benefits justify the potential risk to the fetus. 
  • Lactation: Not recommended for use by nursing mothers.


Individuals with known hypersensitivity to orphenadrine, paracetamol, or any other constituents of the product should avoid Norgesic.

Caution is advised for patients with pre-existing conditions such as glaucoma, urinary retention, myasthenia gravis, prostate enlargement or gastrointestinal ulcers. 

Interactions and contraindications: 

Concurrent use of Norgesic with alcohol, CNS depressants, MAOIs, other anticholinergics such as atropine, and diphenhydramine is contraindicated. Caution should be exercised to avoid paracetamol overdose when using other paracetamol-containing products.

Side effects may include dry mouth, flushing, nausea, constipation, dizziness, and blurred vision. Serious side effects can include allergic reactions, tachycardia, and difficulty urinating.
