What is a Pap Smear?

How pap smear examination help in cervical cancer prevention.

Pap smear(柏氏抹片) is a cervical screening method which checks the health of your cervix and can help detect cervical cancer. The cervix is the opening to the womb from the vagina. Women aged 25 or above who have had sex and haven't undergone total hysterectomy should have regular cervical screenings.

During a Pap smear screening, a sample of cells is taken from the cervix for testing. The sample is then checked for cancerous and precancerous cells. The entire procedure should take less than 20 minutes.
