What Makes Me More Prone to Morning Sickness?

Hormonal changes during pregnancy are thought to be the primary factor.

The exact causes of morning sickness are unknown; however, hormonal changes during pregnancy are thought to be the main factor.

While morning sickness is a common issue affecting pregnant women, mothers with the following factors are at a higher risk:

  • Twin or triplet pregnancy
  • First pregnancy
  • Severe morning sickness in a previous pregnancy
  • Frequent motion sickness before pregnancy
  • Obesity
  • Stress

While morning sickness usually stops around weeks sixteen to twenty, if you are experiencing persistent discomfort from morning sickness, you should feel free to raise this issue with your practitioner. They may recommend medical treatment for abnormal levels of morning sickness.
