FAMILY MEDICINE

Family Medicine is a rapidly growing specialty within the field of medicine. A family physician is trained to view illness within the context of the individual, the family and the community. Illness is viewed in physical, psychological and social terms. There is a greater emphasis on health. At OT&P, consultations are booked strictly on a 15 minute minimum. New patients are given 30 minutes for the first appointment. This enables a full assessment of the patient's presenting condition to be carried out. It also allows the doctor to evaluate the overall health of the patient and provides the opportunity to carry out health promotion. All medicines are prescribed in childproof containers and full courses of medicines are prescribed to minimise unnecessary attendance and time away from the workplace. We are happy to act as your advocates for health care matters. If you would like to discuss any health care issues or need any specialist procedures or admissions to hospital explained please contact your doctor.
